In 2008, the Redwood Landfill and Recycling Center celebrated its 50th Anniversary. For more than a half century, we have been an active member of the community. Whether we’re championing statewide recycling legislation or privately constructing an $10 million over-crossing of Highway 101, Redwood Landfill and its parent company, WM, are committed to creating a safe and healthy environment in Marin and the greater Bay Area.
In addition to our corporate commitment to environmental sustainability, we support local organizations and their initiatives through in-kind and direct support, including:
- Marin Audubon Society
- Environmental Forum of Marin
- Marin Conservation Corps
- Marin Conservation League
- Novato Human Needs Center
- Novato Youth Center
On a policy level, WM has a record of supporting progressive environmental policies and regulations. In California, we were the first Fortune 500 Company to support AB 32, the California Climate Solutions Act of 2006. We supported the California Integrated Waste Management Board’s Zero Waste Policy and were early advocates for AB 939, requiring 50% diversion of county waste.
Through donation of our OMRI-listed Homegrown Compost and recycled mulch products, we are helping to nourish school and community gardens around the Bay. WM EarthCare is helping communities close the loop on organic waste, keep materials local and restore our soil.
Together, we’re creating a healthy community and a healthier planet for tomorrow.
